You have the option of using counters that are coded striclty in HTML or in JavaScript. The JavaScript counters are compatible with almost any browser still in use and they give you access to a greater amount of statistics. However, some sites don't allow you to use JavaScript on your pages. In this case, the non-JavaScript is your best option.
